It depends on how you prefer to style. A regular flat iron relies on heated plates, while TYMO FLAIGHT AQUA combines heated plates with an optional steam function. The steam can be turned on during styling, or you can use the tool without steam when preferred.

What water do I put in TYMO FLAIGHT AQUA? Do I need distilled water?

Use clean purified or distilled water in the FLAIGHT AQUA water tank. Do not add essential oils, scented water, or other liquids, as they may affect the steam system.

Can I use TYMO FLAIGHT AQUA on wet hair?

No. FLAIGHT AQUA should be used on dry, detangled hair. Wash and dry your hair completely before styling. The steam function adds steam during styling, but the tool is not designed to dry wet or damp hair.

Can I use TYMO FLAIGHT AQUA without the steam on?

Yes. The steam function is controlled separately, so you can use FLAIGHT AQUA as a heated straightener without activating steam.

Is it normal for steam to come out of TYMO FLAIGHT AQUA?

Yes. When the steam function is on and the plates are closed during styling, steam is released through the steam grooves. A light mist or sizzling sound can be normal as the micro-mist turns into steam on the heated plates. If you notice actual smoke, a strong burning smell, or anything unusual, stop using the tool and check it before continuing.

Can TYMO FLAIGHT AQUA straighten and curl hair?

Yes. FLAIGHT AQUA can create sleek straight styles as well as inward curls, outward curls, and soft waves. For straight hair, glide the plates smoothly from roots to ends. For curls, rotate the tool inward or outward as you slowly glide it through each section.

What temperature should I use with TYMO FLAIGHT AQUA?

FLAIGHT AQUA has five temperature settings: 280°F, 320°F, 360°F, 390°F, and 430°F. Lower temperatures are intended for finer or more delicate hair, while thicker or coarser hair may require more heat. Start with a lower setting and increase only when needed.

Is TYMO FLAIGHT AQUA dual voltage? Can I use it abroad?

Yes. TYMO FLAIGHT AQUA supports 100–240V universal voltage for international travel. You may still need the correct plug adapter for your destination.

How do I clean TYMO FLAIGHT AQUA and prevent mineral buildup?

Unplug the tool and let it cool completely before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a dry cloth and never immerse the appliance in water. Using purified or distilled water helps reduce mineral buildup. If the steam outlet becomes clogged, gently remove scale or residue with a small brush. If steam still does not come out, contact TYMO Customer Service.

Does a steam straightener damage your hair?

Like any heated styling tool, a steam straightener can cause heat damage if the temperature is too high for your hair or the tool is repeatedly held on the same section. FLAIGHT AQUA offers five heat settings from 280°F to 430°F, so you can choose the lowest effective temperature for your hair. Use it only on dry hair and apply heat protectant before styling.
